Grammy Award winners

Some highlights of artists who won awards.

Herb Alpert: Best Pop Instrumental Album for "Steppin' Out"

Gary Clark Jr.: Best Traditional R&B Performance for "Please Come Homes" from his record "Blak and Blu".

The Civil Wars (a group that will be featured in an upcoming Spotify listing at some point), won the Grammy for Best Country Duo or Group performance with their song "From This Valley" from their self-titled debut record.

New artist Kacey Musgraves won a few country music Grammy Awards including Best Country Song "Merry Go Round" and Best Country Album "Same Trailer, Different Park".

Wayne Shorter wins the Grammy for Best Improvised Jazz Solo, on his song "Orbits", from his album The Wayne Shorter Quartet, "Without A Net".

Best Jazz Instrumental Album went to Terri Lynne Carrington for her record "Money Jungle: Provocative In Blue".

Saxophonist Kenny Garrett and pianist Christian McBride were also nominated.

Randy Brecker won the award for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album for "Night In Calisia".  He performed with Wlodek Pawlik and Kalisz Philharmonic.

An album featuring tenor saxophonist Joe Lovano with the Brussels Jazz Orchestra, called "Wild Beauty" was also nominated.

Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell win the award for Best Americana Album with their record "Old Yellow Moon".  Other well deserving nominees in the category included Mavis Staples, Allen Toussaint, Buddy Miller & Jim Lauderdale, and Steve Martin & Edie Brickell.

The Del McCoury Band won for Best Bluegrass Album for their release "The Streets of Baltimore".

Ben Harper and Charlie Musselwhite won Best Blues Album for "Get Up" while other nominees included Joe Bonamassa & Beth Hart's "Seesaw", James Cotton's "Cotton Mouth Man", Bobby Rush's "Down In Louisiana", and "Remembering Little Walter" by a quintet of harmonica aces including Billy Boy Arnold, Charlie Musselwhite, Mark Hummel, Sugar Ray Norcia, and James Harman.

Texas songwriting legend Guy Clark also took the Grammy for Best Americana Album for "My Favorite Picture Of You".
