Stay safe everybody.  The COVID 19 Coronavirus has claimed the lives of two jazz saxophone legends.  We must stay diligent to protecting ourselves.  We fondly remember both Manu Dibango and, Marcelo Peralta.

Yellowjackets Casino Lights (Montreux Jazz Festival 1981)

A Full Concert Friday this week.  This is a rare video of Yellowjackets at the 1981 Montreux Jazz Festival. The performances from this were released on the "Casino Lights" albums back in the early 80s. Personnel include Russell Ferrante on keyboards, Jimmy Haslip on bass, Ricky Lawson on drums, and the great Robben Ford on guitar. This was videotaped from a European television broadcast in 1981, so quality is early VHS at best.

Jimmy Bruno (feat. Joey DeFrancesco) "Unit Seven"

From his 1996 recording, "Like That", recorded on August 30th and 31st, 1995, here's jazz guitarist Jimmy Bruno, featuring special guest, and Hammond organ maestro, Joey DeFrancesco, on the tune "Unit Seven" which was originally written by bassist Sam Jones for the 1962 duet album by Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley, "Nancy Wilson/Cannonball Adderley".  The tune was also a theme song for Cannonball Adderley and referred to by the title "Cannonball's Theme".  Notable recordings of this composition include those by Adderley himself, Sam Jones, and his band Sam Jones & Company, Wes Montgomery & Wynton Kelly (for their 1965 record "Smokin' at The Half Note"), and the 1985 tribute album to Wes Montgomery recorded by the New York Jazz Guitar Ensemble, titled, "Four On Six: A Tribute to Wes Montgomery", which was released, in 1985.

Steely Dan live at Shoreline Amphitheater, Mountain View, CA 1993

It's yet another Full Concert Friday.  Steely Dan, in a 1993 performance at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California.  The uploader of this concert, Sul do Mundo describes the concert in this way.

For me, the best Steely Dan live Show.

For some unknown reason, there are freeze frames at the beginning of all of the songs from this video. That flaw aside, this is still the best video I’ve seen from the reunion tour, seeing as the Nashville show is skippy, and the two audience videos I have from Philadelphia and Jones Beach are low-quality (I will be sharing at least portions of them though). This video is also pretty rare and not nearly as commonly sold/traded/shared as the Nashville one, so enjoy!
