Bonnie Raitt "Runaway"

Check out Bonnie Raitt playing the tune "Runaway" on Midnight Special in 1977 with a great backing band that includes among others, the late, great Norton Buffalo on harmonica, and Freebo on guitar.  I don't believe this is the same "Runaway" that Del Shannon performed.  I think it is a completely different tune.  Then again, I could be entirely wrong.

And On Piano, Richard Nixon

From Bret "Jazz Video Guy" Primack.

In 1969, on the occasion of his 70th Birthday, Duke Ellington was honored at the White House.  President Richard Nixon, who started the National Endowment for the Arts, played Happy Birthday on the piano for the Duke.

During his address at the White House celebration, Nixon said, "For the first time during this administration, I have the honor of presenting the Presidential Medal of Freedom. I think it is most appropriate that that medal be presented to Duke Ellington.  When we think of freedom, we think of many things. But Duke Ellington is one who has carried the message of freedom to all the nations of the world through music, through understanding, understanding that reaches over all national boundaries and over all boundaries of prejudice and over all boundaries of language."

The Black Crowes "Wiser Time"

Another familiar Black Crowes tune, once again from their August 1st, 2008, performance at Gathering of The Vibes music festival in Bridgeport, Connecticut.  This is another one of those tunes the band also played at the end of August at the Minnesota State Fair in 2008, that I saw in person, and again, is another favorite.  I repeat myself, but I believe this is true.  This particular lineup is the best one The Black Crowes assembled for their band including Chris Robinson on vocals, Rich Robinson on lead and slide guitar, Luther Dickinson on lead and slide guitar, Adam MacDougall on Hammond organ and keyboards, Sven Pipien on bass, and Steve Gorman on drums.

The Black Crowes "Wounded Bird"

From their August 1st, 2008, show at Gathering of the Vibes in Bridgeport, Connecticut, here are the Black Crowes with "Wounded Bird".  I digress.  I saw The Black Crowes, in 2008, at the Minnesota State Fair at the end of August, so about four weeks after this show happened, and from that, and seeing them play the next summer in 2009 at the Basilica Block Party in 2009, I was and still am, a diehard fan.  This had to be their best band lineup in their history with Chris Robinson on vocals, his brother Rich Robinson on vocals and lead guitar, Luther Dickinson on slide guitar (from the North Mississippi Allstars), Adam MacDougall on Hammond organ and keyboards, Sven Pipien on bass, and Steve Gorman on drums.
