Charlie Daniels sees differences vanish in music

Great story about Charlie Daniels and his new album out this week called "Off The Grid, Doin' It Dylan", which is a Dylan acoustic covers album.  Daniels recorded with Bob Dylan as a session musician long before he came to fame with The Charlie Daniels Band.  Music journalist Peter Cooper, for The Tennessean newspaper, is the author.

The Last Stand? The Allman Brothers Get Down To Business At The Beacon

Rolling Stone writer David Fricke penned this review of the March 8th Allman Brothers gig at the Beacon Theater in New York City, for which the set list was published here, just a few days ago.  Check out the review.

Frank Gambale "A Touch of Brasil"

Cool Latin infused piece by Frank Gambale and his band, which at this time (in the mid to late 1990s), featured Gambale on guitar, Tom Coster (of Santana fame) on keys, Alain Reider on drums (making a correction from a post done a long while ago on this band where yours truly listed him playing the wrong instrument), Jimmy Earl on bass, and Mike Fahn on valve trombone.  That's a rarity.  You mostly see slide trombones.  But, yes, the one Fahn plays here, has valves on it, just like a trumpet or a cornet.
