In Memoriam: Wallace Roney

We remember the late, great jazz trumpeter, Wallace Roney, who died at the age of 59, from Coronavirus.  We do so, with two concert performances he was involved in.  The first, is a performance yours truly may or may not have shared on the blog.  I cannot remember.  Nonetheless, it is from 1989.  Roney is playing "Sister Cheryl" with the Tony Williams' Lifetime in New York.  The band lineup is:

Wallace Roney: trumpet
Bill Pierce: soprano saxophone
Mulgrew Miller: piano
Ira Coleman: bass
Tony Williams: drums

The second performance is Wallace Roney with his quintet group, at The Subway Club in Cologne, Germany, in 1990.  There are three tunes played in this 1990 set at The Subway Club.

1. The Sage
2. Stella By Starlight
3. The Eleventh House

The band lineup in Cologne at The Subway Club.

Wallace Roney: trumpet
Anotine Roney: tenor saxophone
Mulgrew Miller: piano
Kim Clarke: bass
Cindy Blackman Santana: drums

Wallace Roney, Rest In Peace.  You will be missed.  Your music, will live on forever, in our hearts.
