Paul Butterfield Blues Band “East West”


The best known album by the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, recording at Chess Records in Chicago for release by the Elektra label in 1966, “East West”.  The band lineup is:

Paul Butterfield: harmonica, vocals
Mike Bloomfield: guitar
Elvin Bishop: guitar, vocals
Mark Naftalin: piano, organ
Jerome Arnold: bass
Sam Lay: drums

Cover songs on this album, are ones written by such musical luminaries of blues and jazz as Robert Johnson, Nat Adderley, Muddy Waters, and Allan Toussaint.  Plus, there are originals and arrangements of traditional pieces.
