Grinderswitch "Red Wing"

Check out this track from an early Grinderswitch album.  It's called "Red Wing".  These guys (in their heyday), sounded pretty similar to the Allman Brothers and the Charlie Daniels Band, even though, for my money, I believe that all of the bands that were a part of "southern rock and roll" music (which is kind of an oxymoron term but also a lifestyle) had their own sound.
