Happy 87th birthday, Willie Nelson!  To celebrate a treasured legend of country music, a tune that he recorded nearly two decades ago that yours truly enjoyed the first time he heard it.  From Nelson’s 2002 “The Great Divide” record, with guest vocalist LeeAnn Womack, here’s their duet, “Mendocino County Line”.

The Derek Trucks Band "Cheesecake"

From a performance on "Mountain Stage" here's The Derek Trucks Band with the Dexter Gordon tune, "Cheesecake".  Not sure what year this is from, even though yours truly has followed Derek's playing, for years, with the Allman Brothers, the Derek Trucks Band, the Tedeschi Trucks Band, and the stint where he toured with Eric Clapton in 2006-2007.  Very interesting to see him playing jazz, and without using a slide, perhaps in Open E tuning, but I can't say for sure. 

Chick Corea Elektric Band “Dragon”

In a 1987 performance, live from the Munich Philharmonic in Munich, Germany, here's the Chick Corea Elektric Band with their composition, "Dragon".  The band lineup is the classic lineup featuring Chick Corea on keyboards, Frank Gambale on guitar, Eric Marienthal on alto saxophone, John Pattitucci on bass, and Dave Weckl on drums.
