Billy Cobham "Spectrum"

Another Full Album Friday, and this time, it is one that yours truly has showcased individual tracks from before, but is posting as a full album, today.  This is Billy Cobham's 1973 debut recording "Spectrum", a landmark album in the jazz rock fusion genre.

Spectrum is the debut album by jazz fusion drummer Billy Cobham. The album contains much influence of the music of Miles Davis and Mahavishnu Orchestra, with whom Cobham had previously collaborated extensively. Tommy Bolin, who would go on to join the hard rock band Deep Purple two years later, plays the lead guitar. The song "Stratus" appears in the video game Grand Theft Auto IV of the radio station "Fusion FM", as well as being the main sample in the Massive Attack hit "Safe from Harm".

Jim Hall, Chet Baker, & Paul Desmond "Concierto de Aranjuez"

This version of "Concierto de Aranjuez" is actually from a 1975 Jim Hall record "Concierto" released on CTI Records.  It is of course, the guitar concerto composed by Joaquin Rodrigo, most famously performed by Miles Davis with a full orchestra on the 1960 "Sketches of Spain" record.  The band lineup is:

Duane Allman, from one of two anthology discs of studio and solo work he did in his career.  This is "Going Down Slow", originally written by blues man James "St. Louis Jimmy" Oden.

Grover Washington Jr. "Trouble Man"

Check out a bluesy track, written by Marvin Gaye, and covered by the late, great jazz saxophonist, Grover Washington Jr.  It was recorded on his 1973 "Soul Box" record, arranged and conducted by keyboardist and all around jazz musical wizard, Bob James.  This is called "Trouble Man".

Yellowjackets "Flat Tire" (demo)

Recorded in 1981 and meant for their self-titled debut record, here's "Flat Tire" by The Yellowjackets, a tune that ultimately didn't make the cut for the final recording of the aforementioned album.  The band lineup is:
