Tedeschi Trucks Band "Until You Remember"

A beautiful rendition of "Until You Remember" by the Tedeschi/Trucks Band from their album "Revelator", that was reviewed on this blog at one point.  This is from a show done at the Beacon Theater in New York City, where the Allman Brothers also hold their annual marathon of concerts every spring.

Jean Luc Ponty "Mirage"

Another great Jean Luc Ponty song found on a whim.  This is his tune, "Mirage" as it was performed in 1982 at the Montreal Jazz Festival.  Ponty's band for this show, was a quintet.  It featured:

Rayford Griffin: drums

Incidentally, trumpeter Clifford Brown was Rayford Griffin's uncle.  Griffin got the chance to play with many of his heroes including Ponty, Stanley Clarke, George Duke, and Lee Ritenour, just to name a few.

In memoriam: Glenn Miller

On this day (December 15th) in 1944, the legendary big band leader Glenn Miller's plane disappeared over the English Channel.  Miller was working his way from London to Paris to join his band for a gig.  But, the plane never arrived at the gig.  There were no signs of wreckage or bodies anyplace.  Fog and inclement weather probably caused the plane to crash.  The official report was that his plane was brought down by friendly fire as it entered a no-fly zone and British pilots were jettisoning unused bombs off their aircraft.  Miller's legacy is in many of his songs.  But some of the younger generation today may or may not be familiar with his music.  Their grandparents undoubtedly heard it, though.

Here are three of his best numbers.  "In The Mood", "Moonlight Serenade", and Chattanooga Choo Choo".  Rest In Peace, Glenn Miller.
