Tony Williams, Herbie Hancock, Carlos Santana, Wynton Marsalis 1981 LUTS Live Under the Sky

 

For Full Concert Friday this week.  This is a collection of performances all featuring Herbie and Tony collaborating with Carlos Santana during the July 1981 Japanese jazz festival, Live Under the Sky.  This video was recently uploaded without the presence of the Herbie Hancock composition, "Saturday Night."  That oversight has been corrected and now this video contains ALL of the clips from LUTS 1981 featuring these musicians that I am aware exists.

Jackie McLean "Mr. E"

 

From Bret "Jazz Video Guy" Primack on YouTube.  Here is jazz alto saxophone legend Jackie McLean playing the composition "Mr. E" honoring the drummer in the band.  The band features Jackie McLean on alto saxophone, Rene McLean on tenor saxophone, Alan Palmer on piano, Nat Reeves on double bass, and "Mr. E" himself, Eric McPherson, on drums. 

Gov't Mule "Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody's Home"

 

Happy Birthday to the one and the only Warren Haynes!  From Gov't Mule's latest record "Heavy Load Blues" here is their cover of Albert King's "Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody's Home", a song that has been posted here before, at least the Gov't Mule rendition of it.  This performance took place last fall at Levitt Pavilion Steelstacks in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, on September 14th, 2021.  

Charlie Daniels & The Jaguars "Robot Romp"

 

Another very early, zany jukebox tune from Charlie Daniels & The Jaguars, recorded in 1960, called "Robot Romp".  This is a funny tune!  Nowhere near as successful as what Charlie would record with The Charlie Daniels Band, but, the rest, as they say, is history.

Another live performance by Joe Bonamassa and his band.  The venue for this one is Radio City Music Hall in New York City, part of a live record and DVD.  The tune is called "One Less Cross To Bear".

Full Concert Friday brings us a couple of blues legends this week with Taj Mahal and Keb Mo performing a show in 2016 or 2017, with a full band, from the Philadelphia Folk Festival in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
