Anthony Braxton "Impressions"

Happy Birthday, jazz saxophonist, Anthony Braxton.  In this bonus post for today, Anthony Braxton plays John Coltrane's "Impressions", at an edition of the Woodstock Jazz Festival.  Not sure when this one, was recorded.


McCoy Tyner Quintet, 1976

The McCoy Tyner Quintet in a recording session for what would become, his 1976 record, "Focal Point".  The band lineup is:

Gregg Allman Band "One Way Out"


Gregg Allman and his band, have a DVD coming out, in August, called "Back To Macon, Georgia", which was recorded at a gig there, in 2014.  Here's a preview, with the band playing "One Way Out", with Gregg Allman's son Devon, sitting in on lead guitar.  Yours truly, saw the Gregg Allman Band, live, back in late March, and is surely looking forward to this release.

Muddy Waters & The Rolling Stones

More bonus.  Check out this performance of "Hoochie Coochie Man" by Muddy Waters and The Rolling Stones, in 1981.  Muddy is joined by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, and Ian Stewart.  Later in the evening, Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, and Lefty Dizz, also made appearances.

A performance by the trio of John Abercrombie on guitar, Dave Holland on bass, and Jack DeJohnette on drums, of the tune, "Homecoming".  The trio, was known by the name, Gateway.
